Feldspar

Feldspar is a group of rock-forming minerals that make up about 60% of the Earth’s crust. They are important in both geological and industrial contexts.

  • Feldspar is a crucial ingredient in the production of ceramics. It acts as a flux, lowering the melting temperature of the ceramic material, thus aiding in the formation of glassy phases and enhancing the mechanical strength and durability of ceramic products.
  • Feldspar is a common raw material in glass manufacturing. It is used as a flux to promote melting at lower temperatures and to control the viscosity of the glass melt. This helps in producing glass with desired clarity, strength, and thermal stability.
  • Feldspar can also be used in the fertilizer industry, particularly in formulating potassium fertilizer. Potassium feldspar, a type of feldspar rich in potassium, is utilized as a potassium source in fertilizer formulations, providing essential nutrients for plant growth.
