SOAPSTONE POWDER /LUMP (TALC)

MINERAL

Soapstone Powder /Lump (Talc)

Soapstone, also known as steatite, is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of talc, a hydrated magnesium silicate mineral. It is characterized by its softness, greasy texture, and can vary in color from white and gray to green, depending on its mineral composition.

  • Soapstone is one of the softest minerals, ranking 1 on the Mohs hardness scale. It can be easily scratched with a fingernail and is readily cut with a knife.
  • Predominantly composed of talc (Mg3Si4O10(OH)2) with varying amounts of other minerals like chlorite, pyroxene, and amphibole.
  • Used as a filler to improve the strength and thermal shock resistance of ceramic products.
  • Provides a matte finish and enhances durability in paints and coatings.
  • Acts as a filler to improve dimensional stability and mechanical properties of plastics.
  • Enhances the properties of rubber products such as flexibility and resistance to abrasion.
